Voltaix opens 30MTY Germane Plant in South Korea
Voltaix is pleased to announce it has officially started up its newly constructed high volume germane manufacturing plant in Yeongi-gun, Choongchungnam-do, South Korea. The plant, located at the newly established Voltaix Korea manufacturing site, provides customers with redundancy and utilizes well established process technology developed at the Voltaix operation in Branchburg, New Jersey (USA).
The plant incorporates a number of design features that enhance the automation and safety of the process. Distributed control (DCS) will be employed to automate the process and allow statistical process control to be utilized to manage and reduce sources of potential variation in the germane plant.
Voltaix is a worldwide leader in the manufacture and supply of germane gas. Germane is a flammable, toxic, colorless gas used for the deposition of epitaxial and amorphous silicon-germanium (SiGe), and as a precursor for PECVD of (Si, Ge)O2 films with controllable refractive index for photonic applications. The incorporation of SiGe into the transistor source-drain creates the strain needed to improve device speed.
